Conditioning

Potential Squad Members -

Offseason conditioning has already started! For those of you interested in trying out for either the Boys Varsity or JV squads, and you were unable to attend the first "get-to-know-you" meeting in August - please send an email to Coach Johnson at CEJ2200@aol.com ASAP. Please include your name, year (e.g. Sr, Jr, So, Fr), and include "Interested in Trying Out for Manchester Boys Soccer" in the subject line. A detailed training regimen will be sent to you.

We are working toward holding another meeting for those interested in trying out in the Spring, and who were unable to make the August meeting. We are attempting to set this up for after school, and on school grounds.

Also, if you have not already done so please sign up on the email fan list to receive updates on the program.

Thanks,

Coach Chuck Johnson

Additional Information on Boys Soccer Tryouts

I am including additional information for the upcoming tryouts that will be conducted February 21-23 from 2:15-4 on the field near the bus loop below.

Evaluation Criteria:

  1. 1st and 2nd touch
  2. Passing accuracy
  3. Field awareness & decision making
  4. fitness level

Also, attendance is mandatory all three days, and all forms must be turned in to the coaches prior to participating in any tryouts. Athletes who participated in fall or winter sports do not need to submit another set of forms, but must inform coaches of this information.

Athletes should bring tennis shoes, studs, and guards to all three days of tryouts.

Finally, please see below regarding eligibility based on grades (from Mr. Cassem). Athletes trying out must bring a copy of their second semester report cards to tryouts.

The new semester eligibility begins on Saturday, January 28.  On this day all student-athletes must be enrolled in courses adding up to 5 credits.  Please make sure that none of your athletes dropped a class that would put them below 5 credits.  Additionally, they must have passed a minimum of 5 credit classes for the semester.

It is your responsibility to check their grades to be certain they are still eligible for the second semester.  Remember, freshman  during the first semester were automatically eligible, but at the start of the second semester, they are now subject to the same credit requirements.
